Welcome
to Rising Sun School of Wado-Ryu.
My name is Sensei Darrel Haigh I
have been doing Karate for 24 years, I started doing Shotokan with Sensei Joe
Starky a 6th Dan black belt and studied under him for 3 years and achieved Yellow
belt in that style. In 1984 I changed to Wado-Ryu and gained my Shodan belt (black
belt) under the teaching of Sensei Brian Marshall a 4th Dan or Yondan in Japanese
terms. On the 23rd of October 2005 I graded with my sensei and passed my 2nd
Dan black belt or Nidan degree, my sensei also past his 5th Dan or Godan. In
October 2007 I was given the honour of being put forward one year early for my
3rd Dan (Sandan) degree which was held on the 3rd November 2007 in front of Sensei
Sangwin of the UMA/WBK, the grading was in 2 parts and it was at the next seminar
on 2nd February 2008 that I passed my 3rd Dan. Please click on the links on
the left hand side of this page to find out more about the style of martial art
