| Welcome
to Rising Sun School of Wado-Ryu.
My
name is Sensei Darrel Haigh
I
have been doing Karate for 30 years, I started doing Shotokan with
Sensei Joe Starky a 6th Dan black belt and studied under him for
3 years (1981 to 1984) and achieved Yellow belt in that style. In
1984 I changed to Wado-Ryu and gained my Shodan belt (black belt)
under the teaching of Sensei Brian Marshall a 4th Dan or Yondan
in Japanese terms.
On the 23rd of October 2005 I graded with my sensei and passed my
2nd Dan black belt or Nidan degree, my sensei also past his 5th
Dan or Godan.
In October 2007 I was given the honour of being put forward one
year early for my 3rd Dan (Sandan) degree which was held on the
3rd November 2007 in front of Sensei Sangwin of the UMA/WBK, the
grading was in 2 parts and it was at the next seminar on 2nd February
2008 that I passed my 3rd Dan.
The 1st October 2011 I was put in for my 4th Dan (yondan) Degree
and passed, again this was held at our seminar under the watchful
eye's of Renshi (head instructor) B. Marshall and Soke (head of
the UMA/WBK) Colin Sangwin.
